In April, the 21 athletes from the SXL Acrobatics Elite Squad jetted off to the USA to compete in the 2023 International Vegas Acro Cup. The competition ran over 4 days with SXL competing in the USA JO Levels Divisions, the FIG International divisions, and, for the first time ever, the USA Blocks competition. This is the club’s 4th time attending this event and has become a highlight on our competition calendar.
This was many of our athlete’s first international competition and they all performed exceptional routines which qualified them all to the finals with many of them winning medals in their divisions . We are so proud of all of our athletes.
COMPETITION RESULTS:
- Level 10 Women’s Trio – Mackenzie, Luna & Rachel: 4th in Balance, 3rd in Dynamic – 4TH OVERALL
- 12-18yrs Women’s Trio – Chloe, Abby & Helena: Balance Silver Medallists, 5th in Dynamic, qualified for finals in 2nd place, 1st in Combined and 2nd Overall – VEGAS ACRO CUP SILVER MEDALLISTS
- 12-18yrs Women’s Trio – Jana, Gabi & Tilda: Balance Bronze Medallists, Dynamic Bronze Medallists, qualified for finals in 3rd place, 4th in Combined – 4TH OVERALL
- 13-19yrs Women’s Trio – Lola, Orabella & Alison: Balance Bronze Medallists, 5th in Dynamic, qualified for finals in 5th place and 4TH OVERALL
- Senior Women’s Trio – Lauren, Maddi & Annabelle: Balance Bronze Medallists, Dynamic Bronze Medallists, qualified for finals in 3rd place, 3rd in Combined and 3rd Overall – VEGAS ACRO CUP BRONZE MEDALLISTS
- Senior Mixed Pair – Aaron & Madi: Balance Gold Medallists, Dynamic Gold Medallists, qualified for finals in 1st place, 1st in Combined and 1st Overall – VEGAS ACRO CUP CHAMPIONS
- Senior Team Award – SXL GYMNASTICS – this award is presented to the club with the best overall results ion the Senior (15yrs+) category.
THE BLOCKS COMPETITION
For the first time, SXL gymnasts participated in the USA Blocks Competition. This is a competition for different hand balancing elements performed on a set of wooden blocks. If you have ever watched our Elite Squad train, you would have seen our gymnasts completing all sorts of skills and balancing elements on these apparatus. These skills require an immense amount of strength, flexibility and concentration which our gymnasts have been working on all year round. We were so excited to participate in the blocks competition and the results did not disappoint.

- Bronze 12-13yrs Division – Tilda: 4th place
- Bronze 14yrs Division – Rachel: 1st place – VEGAS BLOCKS CHAMPION
- Silver 15yrs+ Division – Lucy S: 2nd place – VEGAS BLOCKS SILVER MEDALLIST
- Silver 15yrs+ Division – Gabi: 3rd place – VEGAS BLOCKS BRONZE MEDALLIST
- Gold 14yrs+ Division – Bella: 3rd place – VEGAS BLOCKS BRONZE MEDALLIST
- Platinum U13yrs Division – Helena: 3rd place – VEGAS BLOCKS BRONZE MEDALLIST
- Platinum 14yrs+ Division – Madi: 3rd place – VEGAS BLOCKS BRONZE MEDALLIST
- Platinum 14yrs+ Division – Alison: 6th place
- Diamond Open Age Division – Chloe: 3rd place – VEGAS BLOCKS BRONZE MEDALLIST
- Diamond Open Age Division – Annabelle: 4th place
